Bella Union 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon

Bella Union was founded in 2012 by the owning partners of Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel. The grapes are sourced from a 25-acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Rutherford along Bella Oaks Lane. Winery Notes: "Located in Rutherford along Bella Oaks Lane "hallowed ground for Napa Valley Cabernet" the 25-acre Bella Union Vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small portion devoted to Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This western bench location offers an ideal combination of cool evenings and warm afternoons, which, in turn, allows the grapes to ripen fully and evenly. The site’s well-draining, gravelly loam soil plays an equally important role, contributing to the signature character of the vineyard. The fruit is intense, beautifully proportioned and complex with aromatic ripe plum, black cherry and currant flavors."

Blend: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 3% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot, & 1% Cabernet Franc

The 2017 Bella Union is filled with luscious aromas of cherry cola, anise, and baking spices. Tension is exhibited on the palate as this wine is both fruit forward and restrained. Black cherry, blueberry and other briary fruit flavors guide the wine’s bright midpalate, finishing with hints of cocoa and resolved tannins.
