WINERY NOTES
When Napa Valley vintner Gary Lipp started Coho Wines in 2002, his intention was to craft world-class wines that exemplified the flavors and natural character of Napa Valley and help the habitat of the Coho salmon along the way. Made primarily with premium fruit from the Coombsville sub-region of overlooking San Pablo Bay in southern Napa Valley, this 2014 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and smaller touches of Merlot and Petite Verdot jumps out of the glass from the moment the wine is poured.

Blend: 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, & 11% Petite Verdot
93 POINTS - "Aromas of licorice and tar with black currants. Full body, round and silky tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Gorgeous wine. Drink or hold." - James Suckling

93 POINTS - "Rich and opulent with a dark red hue: This fantastic offering from the celebrated 2014 vintage features lively aromas that invoke memories of dark red fruits, blueberry pop-tart, chocolate, allspice, and subtle nuances of fine French oak. To balance the deep flavors of black raspberry, dark cherry, pomegranate, ripe plum and white pepper, the texture is silky smooth, with firm tannins and a long, dry finish. As a result, not only is the wine brilliant as it opens up in the glass, but the layers of complex flavors provide a preview of how well the wine will hold over the next ten years in the cellar." Chris Sawyer

92 POINTS - "Features a loamy tug throughout, with steeped black currant and plum fruit rolling over the top. Ends with a mix of sage, tobacco and menthol accents. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2020 through 2028. 1,460 cases made." Wine Spectator

Socially Rated 4+ / 5 STARS
Grown primarily in the cool-climate Coombsville appellation of the Napa Valley, the 2014 HEADWATERS is a vibrant, richly layered wine. Proximity to the San Pablo Bay imparts spicy aromatic and flavor complexities, while the gravel and volcanic-rock strewn soils contribute to the mineral notes that roll on the palate and finish. A focused purity of gorgeous red and blue fruits infuse a core of currant and pomegranate flavors. This is an elegant wine that despite its early approachability will continue to reveal additional complexities for the next five to seven years.
