WINEMAKER NOTES
The Foley Johnson 2018 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon comes from vineyards in the heart of Rutherford, 50% being from our own Estate that is comprised of thicker and heavier adobe soils with small amounts of gravel which are perfect for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The ideal growing conditions in the vineyard allow our Bordeaux varietals to reach full maturity on the vine without taking on the green, leafy taste of under-ripe fruit. The grapes were all harvested between October and November 2018. The wine went through 100% malolactic fermentation and is unfiltered. After 18 months in 30% new French, American and Hungarian oak. The wine was bottled on April 13, 2020
Blend: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, & 3% Petite Sirah

90 POINTS - "Steeped plum and blackberry fruit melds nicely with touches of vanilla, cedar and warm earth through the finish, with a polished feel overall that makes this accessible now too. Drink now through 2026." - Wine Spectator
Upon opening our 2018 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, aromas of black cherry and cassis fill the glass, followed by a hint of mocha. On the palate, bold tannins are balanced with concentrated flavors of ripe fig with savory notes of black olive and dried herbs. Well structured and full bodied, our Cabernet Sauvignon is approachable now, but will age beautifully over the next 5-10 years.
