TASTING NOTES
What defines MacPhail? Our little red wagon says it all. Family. Fun. Serious when we need to be (but not too much). From the beginning, which isn’t all that long ago, we’ve believed that wine is art with a splash of science. We use traditional, old-world winemaking techniques with minimal intervention to deliver wines that are flavorful enough to tell you a lot about our exceptional vineyards in Sonoma County and Mendocino’s Anderson Valley.

The Dutton family is one of the founding farming families of Sonoma County, dating back to the 1880s, when Warren Dutton first farmed prunes, later farming apples and other fruits before planting winegrapes in the mid 1960’s. The MacPhail Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir is sourced from two of the family’s younger sustainably farmed vineyards.

92 POINTS - "Black cherry nose; smooth and spicy with ripe berry fruit and notes of earth; lush, juicy and balanced; long and rich, deep and elegant." - Anthony Dias Blue, Tasting Panel Magazine
Show stopping, stunning, look up Green Valley in the dictionary and you’ll find that this is the perfect expression of this part of the Russian River Valley. While most think of Green Valley only as cool, there are spots that are actually warmer, and the Dutton Ranches fall in that bucket. This blend of two vineyards is consistently rich, full bodied and dare we say it, sexy and inviting, something truly fun to have in your glass. Rose petals and raspberry shout for attention, alongside Bing cherry and spice, with white pepper sprinkles. Linear and well structured, the wine is a contradiction, bold yet restrained, ready for its close-up once again.
