TASTING NOTES
Château Clarke 2015, a wine with a rich history and an unwavering commitment to excellence, is a testament to the dedication of its owners and winemakers. This vineyard, nestled in the heart of the Listrac-Médoc appellation, has been producing exceptional wines since the Irish Clarke family acquired it in 1771. Today, under the stewardship of Baron Edmond de Rothschild, Château Clarke has evolved into a benchmark for the entire region.

The 2015 vintage is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, a harmonious composition that showcases the terroir's best qualities. With 55 hectares of vineyards boasting 30-year-old vines, Château Clarke benefits from a unique soil composition of limestone and clay, allowing the grapes to thrive under the natural grass cover and the double Guyot training system.

The 2015 vintage was marked by a dry season, pushing the vines into hydric stress early in the year. However, a well-timed rainfall in August and sunny, dry weather in September and October ensured the grapes reached their optimal ripeness. The Merlot harvest took place from September 21 to October 5, followed by the Cabernet Sauvignon harvest on October 6 and 7.

Château Clarke's winemaking process is a work of art, with grapes gently guided into vats via gravity flow, cold soaking, and fermentation in both oak and stainless steel tanks. The moderate extraction tailored to each vat, using pumping over and delestage techniques, ensures the best expression of the grapes. The wine matures for 16 months in barrels, with two-thirds new and one-third second-fill barrels.

At 14% alcohol, Château Clarke 2015 strikes a perfect balance between power and finesse. It offers a drinking window from 2019 to 2030, promising up to 15 years of pure delight. When poured, it reveals a beautiful crimson color with a deep purple rim, an enticing sight for any wine enthusiast.

The aromas that waft from the glass are a delightful blend of fresh fruits like black currant and black cherry, intertwined with elegant oak notes. As the wine breathes, it unveils hints of menthol and liquorice. The palate is a revelation, starting with a round and straightforward introduction that transitions seamlessly into a rich, concentrated, and velvety tannic texture. The bright acidity provides the much-needed balance and freshness that elevates this wine to a level of sophistication that is simply exceptional.

In the world of wine, Château Clarke 2015 is a masterpiece. Its history, terroir, and winemaking craftsmanship come together in a bottle that promises an unforgettable journey for those who seek the finest in life. Indulge in this outstanding vintage, and let it be the crowning jewel of your collection.

Blend: 70% Merlot & 87% Cabernet Sauvignon

Alcohol: 14%
93 POINTS - "This estate has belonged to the Edmond de Rothschild family since 1973. From one of the top performing properties in Listrac, this wine is well proportioned, rich and dense. It has weight but its main thrust is elegance, with stylish black-currant fruit, acidity and a dry core from the wood aging. The wine will age well and should not be drunk before 2023." - Wine Enthusiast

92 POINTS - "The 2015 Clarke has an attractive blackberry and briary scented nose with just a hint of dark chocolate emanating from the new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, the acidity nicely judged with fine tension on the cedar and tobacco-tinged finish. I appreciate the freshness and refinement demonstrated by this Château Clarke, a classic Listrac that should give 10-12 years of pleasure." - Wine Advocate

91 POINTS - "Sweet and generous but also with quite a slug of dry tannins, and that really gives the wine some character and drive at the finish. You can drink it now, but better in 2020." - James Suckling
