WINEMAKER NOTES
Delille Cellars is proud to present their 2019 D2, a Bordeaux-style blend that has received widespread acclaim in the wine industry. The wine has been named #30 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2022 and #7 on Seattle Times' Pacific Northwest Top 20 Wines of the Year.

The 2019 D2 boasts a complex aroma that seamlessly blends savory and dried fruit characteristics. Notes of cranberries, roasted coffee beans, cassis, and burnt orange are accentuated by deep, rich barrel tones of nutmeg, vanilla bean, dark chocolate, and clove. As the wine develops in the glass, the fruit profile shifts between red and dark fruits, a characteristic that is loved by wine enthusiasts. The palate is met with a freshness and pronounced herbal quality that leads to a structure that is refined despite the wine’s youth.

The blend is made up of 60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, sourced from over a dozen Columbia Valley Vineyards including Red Willow, Harrison Hill, Ciel du Cheval, Klipsun, Boushey, DuBrul, Upchurch and Grand Ciel. The wine is aged for 18 months in 100% French oak (55% new) and is best enjoyed now or aged for 5 to 15+ years.

Wine Spectator's Tim Fish describes the wine as "Polish meets structure in this red, which offers well-defined black cherry, toasty spice, and bay leaf accents as this slowly unfurls toward fine-grained tannins. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2030."

D2 takes its name from the grand route du vin, or great wine road that travels through the historic region of Bordeaux. It is an expression of Washington State terroir that is crafted using traditional winemaking techniques such as cold soaking for 24-36 hours, fermentation for 12-14 days on skin, and aging in 100% French oak (55% new).

94 POINTS - "Polish meets structure in this red, which offers well-defined black cherry, toasty spice and bay leaf accents as this slowly unfurls toward fine-grained tannins. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2030." - Wine Spectator

94 POINTS - "The 2019 D2 (60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) is terrific, with a ruby/purple hue as well as gorgeous cassis and black cherry fruits, notes of spicy, dried herbs, and lead pencil, medium to full body, and a pure, balanced, undeniably delicious profile. It's going to keep for 15-20 years and is one heck of a wine. Best After 2022." - Jeb Dunnuck

91 POINTS - "Merlot comprises 60% of this wine and Cabernet Sauvignon 34%, with the rest bits of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The aromas pull you into the glass, with notes of plum, raspberry, chocolate, vanilla and spice. The flavors are reserved and creamy feeling, delivering on all that promise." - Wine Enthusiast

91 POINTS - "Aromas of ripe red cherry, red licorice, dried sage and suede. Full-bodied with firm tannins. Wet-mineral character mixes with bright red fruit. Ripe raspberries, cherries and sweet paprika. Toasted finish. 67% merlot, 28% cabernet sauvignon, 3% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Best after 2023." - James Suckling
The 2019 D2 aromas dance effortlessly between savory and dried fruit characteristics. Cranberries, roasted coffee beans, cassis and burnt orange are highlighted by deep, rich barrel tones of nutmeg, vanilla bean, dark chocolate and clove. As the wine develops in the glass, the fruit profile shifts between red and dark fruits, a trademark of D2 that we love. An inviting freshness and pronounced herbal quality on the palate leads to a structure that is refined despite the wine’s youth. Be confident that this blend of 13 iconic vineyards throughout the Columbia Valley will cellar for 15+ years.
