WINEMAKER NOTES
Other producer’s Beckstoffer Carneros Lake Chardonnay retails for over $100! Grapes for this wine came from block B5 at Andy Beckstoffer’s Carneros Lake Vineyard in the southern Napa. This is our final vintage from this vineyard which is just a few feet from the marine influences of the San Pablo Bay. The proximity of this vineyard to the water translates to a longer, cooler growing cycle. Stylistically, we aimed to let the cool climate, mineral character of the fruit take center stage.

93 POINTS - "Ripe Apple, preserved lemon, and a touch of wilted gardenia on the nose this is a fresh and inviting aroma to open your senses. On the palate you will notice golden delicious flesh with the tartness of granny smith skins and a touch of lemon zest. The acid and brightness combined with the touch of ML fermentation, a hint of oak, and a creamy mouthfeel, makes this a very well-rounded chardonnay lovers dream." S. Kleinfeld - Certified Sommelier
As winemakers, we do everything start to finish. No shortcuts. No excuses. We're the ones doing the work, because we believe being hands-on is the only way to make great wine. From harvest to crush through barreling and bottling. Dept. C is proud to create wines that have a unity of component structure, a complexity of flavors and aromas, and a lasting intensity. That elusive remembrance of place—something unique, personal, and delicious.
