Funky Jory, a cherished gem within the El Pino Club collection, is a heartfelt tribute to the illustrious Jory soil that defines Oregon's Dundee Hills. With a graceful, lighter body, it dances with flavors of forest floor, bright red fruit, and a tantalizing minerality that whispers of the Old World's influence. This Pinot is a bridge between tradition and innovation, a testament to the magic of Oregon's Willamette Valley.
The 2021 vintage etches its memory into the annals of Willamette Valley history. A year of remarkable heat and drought tested the vines, resulting in slightly reduced yields. However, a stroke of fortune came in the form of mild rain during bloom, which helped our vines endure the scorching summer. Harvest commenced weeks ahead of schedule, a testament to nature's unpredictability and resilience.
All the grapes that grace this bottle are nurtured in our Dundee Hills estate vineyard, where the vines dig their roots into the renowned Jory soils. Rich in nutrients and imbued with clay, this volcanic basalt soil imparts our Pinot Noir with a distinctive character—high acidity, velvety tannins, and a captivating red fruit profile.
Upon uncorking, this exquisite Pinot Noir reveals a symphony of aromas: black cherry, mulberry, sandalwood, and a hint of baking spice, a delicate dance orchestrated by the sparing use of new French oak barrels.
