WINEMAKER NOTES
If you're a Pinot fanatic, El Pino Club's 2021 The Cusp Pinot Noir is a symphony for your senses. Crafted from the coastal havens where the Pinot grape thrives, this wine pays homage to the dedicated hands and fertile lands that nurture it. As you explore each glass, you'll embark on a journey through the very essence of this legendary varietal.

The Cusp Pinot Noir is a testament to the dance between Russian River fog and Sonoma sunshine. This is a proud representation of the new world of Pinot, boasting a robust and round body teeming with the richness of dark fruit. But don't be fooled by its fullness; it's a masterpiece of balance and complexity that will leave you pleasantly surprised.

The 2021 growing season was unique, marked by lower rainfall and mild summer weather. The vineyards were meticulously managed, responding to the water availability for each specific plot. Despite some early fall heatwaves, the vintage rewarded us with lower yields, impeccable structure, and harmoniously balanced flavors.

The Trenton Road Vineyard, nestled in the Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County, captures the magic of morning fog and afternoon sun. From its 45 acres, we handpicked the finest fruit from eight distinct blocks, ensuring the utmost quality. The harvest took place between September 4th and 9th, 2021, securing the essence of the season.

Pour a glass of The Cusp Pinot Noir, and you'll be greeted by enticing aromas of dried cherries, roses, and magnolia. Subtle hints of vanilla coffee and pine needle resin intertwine, setting the stage for a luscious experience. The front palate bursts with juicy, concentrated strawberry and cherry compote flavors, balanced by an elegantly weighty mid-palate. A crescendo of vanilla bean pannacotta leads to a lingering finish, graced by a bright coastal acidity that leaves your palate yearning for more.

This wine is a true testament to the Russian River Valley, a 100% Pinot Noir composition skillfully crafted from Mt. Eden 37, Pommard 4, Swan 97, and 777 clones. Aged for 17 months in 33% new French oak barrels from esteemed cooperages like Francois Freres, Marsannay, D&J, and Tremeaux, it embodies excellence from vine to bottle. With a TA of 6.19 g/L, pH of 3.56, and an alcohol content of 14.3%, this wine is a masterclass in balance and precision.

In summary, El Pino Club's 2021 The Cusp Pinot Noir is not just a wine; it's a testament to the craft of winemaking and the bounty of the Russian River Valley. If you seek a Pinot Noir experience that's both bold and refined, this wine beckons you to indulge in its complexity and charm. Discover the pinnacle of Pinot pleasure with The Cusp.
