Indulge in the sublime allure of Poggio San Polo's 2018 Brunello di Montalcino, a masterful ode to the Sangiovese grape, where power meets elegance in a symphony of flavors. Crafted with unwavering devotion to the land, our Brunello embodies the essence of Montalcino, painting the palate with its distinctive reddish-brown hue and captivating aromas.

The 2018 vintage unfolds like a tranquil sonnet, marked by a gentle rhythm that nature orchestrated with precision. From a delayed onset spurred by a frosty winter to a leisurely vegetative phase, each element of the season contributed to the wine's exceptional character. As the harvest unfolded between September 20th and October 5th, we embraced nature's pace, nurturing the vines with care and patience.

With meticulous attention to detail, we conducted a phased harvest, selecting grapes at optimal ripeness to harness the full spectrum of flavors this vintage bestowed upon us. In our cellars, the grapes underwent fermentation with the same serene demeanor that defined the harvest, ensuring a seamless transition into the ageing process.

The journey of Poggio San Polo's Brunello extends beyond the vineyard, encompassing a refined vinification and ageing regimen. Through soft crushing and careful berry selection, we unlock the essence of the Sangiovese grape. Aged for 30 months in oak casks of varying sizes, followed by an additional 6 months in the bottle, our Brunello matures into a harmonious masterpiece, each sip an ode to the passage of time and the artistry of winemaking.

Nurtured in the vineyards of San Polo and Montluc, our grapes are hand-harvested in small crates towards the end of September, ensuring each berry retains its pristine essence. Fermented in concrete tanks and undergoing malolactic fermentation in oak casks, our Brunello embodies a synthesis of tradition and innovation, a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality.

As you uncork a bottle of Poggio San Polo's 2018 Brunello di Montalcino, allow yourself to be transported to the sun-kissed slopes of Montalcino, where the terroir speaks through every sip. With each glass, savor the culmination of nature's bounty and human craftsmanship, a testament to the timeless allure of Brunello. Embrace the tranquility of the 2018 vintage, where patience yields perfection, and indulge in a wine that epitomizes the essence of Montalcino's terroir.

94 POINTS - "The primarily earthy, sanguine nose gets some pop from the slightly astringent sweetness of plums. That pleasing dynamism continues on the palate, before eventually giving way to a chocolatey, coffee finish. Grippy yet pliant tannins provide structure, while acid brings the heat." - Wine Enthusiast

93 POINTS - "Aromas of sour plums, cherry stones, bark and iodine, with some dried herbs. So fresh, tangy and flavorful, with bright berry fruit and savory moss notes. Fine and integrated tannins. Medium body. All about balance. From organically grown grapes." - James Suckling

92 POINTS - "A certified organic wine, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino display a savory character that accompanies the wine from start to finish over the palate and then some. There is a core of black fruit, but the real takeaway is that spicy contour of dark chestnut husk, acacia honey, tilled earth and toasted rosemary that fills the balloon of your glass. This Brunello finishes on a tart note and shows tannins that could use a few extra years to soften." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Socially Rated 4+ / 5 ⭐
In the glass, this Brunello has an intense ruby red colour with garnet hues. The typical aromas of violets and red berries are followed by hints of vanilla, cedar and coffee. On the palate, it is full-bodied and warm with a densely-woven texture and robust tannins, while the finish is persistent and rounded.
