TASTING NOTES
The Silverado 2023 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon captures the unmistakable character of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with a refined, site driven expression built from some of the region’s most historic vineyard ground. This is a wine of depth, precision and classic Napa richness, bringing together fruit from the legendary Mt. George Vineyard and Silverado Vineyard to create a polished Cabernet that delivers impressive concentration without sacrificing freshness or balance.

The foundation comes from the historic Mt. George Vineyard, accounting for 60% of the blend. Located east of Napa, this remarkable site traces its viticultural history to some of the earliest grape plantings in Napa Valley during the 19th century. Its deep volcanic soils are ideally suited to producing Cabernet with intense fruit, dark color, substantial palate density and the kind of structural backbone that allows the wine to feel powerful yet composed. The remaining 40% comes from Silverado Vineyard, the winery’s namesake property, where Harry See planted Cabernet Sauvignon in 1968. UC Davis would later designate this material as the Disney Silverado Heritage Clone, adding another layer of Napa Valley history to an already compelling estate Cabernet.

The 2023 growing season proved particularly favorable for developing Cabernet with both flavor intensity and natural freshness. Record winter rainfall brought relief after years of drought, while cooler than average conditions through winter and spring significantly delayed budbreak. Summer remained comparatively cool, pushing harvest approximately two weeks later than normal. That extended growing season allowed the fruit to develop ripe, expressive flavors while retaining vibrant acidity, an essential component in a Cabernet of this caliber.

In the glass, the 2023 Silverado Estate Cabernet Sauvignon offers enticing aromas of bright red and black cherries alongside blue fruits, vanilla, cedar and subtle cola. The palate immediately shows its full bodied personality, with a round, generous entry leading into a concentrated mid palate filled with layers of dark plum, mocha and graphite. Fine grained tannins provide structure without overwhelming the fruit, while refreshing acidity keeps the wine focused and energetic through the finish.

The final blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec adds complexity and dimension to the classic Cabernet foundation. The result is a beautifully balanced Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that marries historic vineyard character with modern precision. Rich, structured and remarkably polished, the 2023 vintage delivers the depth expected from serious Napa Cabernet while maintaining the elegance and drinkability that make Silverado wines so compelling.

93 POINTS - "Soft and supple aromas of black currants, dark chocolate, black olives, potpourri and graphite. The palate is smooth and textural, with firmly framed tannins, bright acidity and a long finish. A lovely blend of 81% cabernet sauvignon with small amounts of the other four Bordeaux varieties. Drink or hold." - Wine Spectator
This is a refined, intentionally blended Cabernet Sauvignon. Bright red and black cherry aromas are framed by blue fruits, vanilla, and hints of cedar and cola. It is full-bodied, with a full, round entry and concentrated mid-palate. Graceful layers of mocha, graphite and dark plums are supported by fine grained tannins. This wine is firm and balanced from start to finish
