WINEMAKER NOTES
From the coastal elevations of Sonoma’s most evocative terroir, the 2022 Summer Dreams “Stargazing” Pinot Noir is a luminous expression of purity, precision, and place. Crafted entirely from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from hillside vineyards between 900 and 1900 feet above sea level, this wine is a portrait of the Sonoma Coast’s radiant tension between warmth and sea-blown coolness. Jayson Woodbridge, a winemaker known for relentless excellence, selects each barrel as part of a larger narrative—his interpretation of a fleeting California summer night caught in the glass.

This vintage shimmers with the hallmark elegance of Pinot Noir grown in Goldridge soils—those rare, fine-grained sandy loams that sit above ancient seabed and fossils, conferring remarkable drainage and minerality. Here, nature conspires with the vineyard to deliver fruit of both aromatic intensity and structural depth. Clone diversity—2A, 113, 115, 667, 777, and Pommard—adds layers of complexity to the final blend, each contributing its own nuance of spice, perfume, and fruit purity.

The 2022 “Stargazing” opens with a jewel-toned clarity in the glass, its luminous ruby hue giving way to high-toned aromas of wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, and rose petal. Beneath this red-fruited elegance lies an undercurrent of sandalwood, cedar shavings, and subtle forest floor, elevated by a haunting whiff of coastal salinity. The palate is electric—medium-bodied but taut with energy—driven by a racy spine of acidity and fine, grippy tannins. Dark cherry and cranberry compote mingle with earthy spice and floral lift, culminating in a long, vibrant finish that tingles with precision.

Fermented from 100% destemmed whole berries in a mix of open-top tanks and French oak puncheons, then aged in 100% new French oak (20% in large puncheons), the wine achieves an exceptional balance between oak influence and varietal transparency. Sterile filtered for clarity and stability, this bottling speaks with clarity and conviction—a Pinot Noir with both immediacy and the structure to reward cellaring.

The 2022 Summer Dreams “Stargazing” Pinot Noir is more than a wine—it is a reverie of coastal California, a polished gem pulled from sea-swept hillsides and rendered with precision by a singular hand. For collectors and Pinot devotees alike, this is a wine that embodies the romance of the Sonoma Coast in a single, unforgettable bottle.

96 POINTS - "It’s super aromatic, with a mystical stardust minerality that elevates it. Fabulous rich cedarwood, toffee, and brown spices mixed with cigar box and dried violets, accented by rich conifer notes. The wine has a beautifully structured framework of sappy tannins, supporting plush, brown-spice-scented red berry fruit with impressive length and laser focus. It’s like going to a concert in the Sphere in Las Vegas." - Decanter

95 POINTS - "Leading off the Pinot Noirs, the 2022 Pinot Noir Stargazing sports a vivid ruby hue to go with a gorgeous nose of ripe framboise, rose petals, flowers, baking spices, and redcurrants. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Pinot Noir with remarkable purity, a soft, lush, elegant mouthfeel, and a great finish." - Jeb Dunnuck
Glimmering in the glass like a polished ruby stone, splashes of red berry fruit linger with cedar and sandalwood. Medium-bodied and electric with energy, bursts of dark fruit, earthy accents, and floral notes are framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and a racy backbone that finishes long and tingly. Spicy, complex, sensational.
